The newly elected President of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS Mr Pedro Obi has said that he was not ready to surrender the mandate given to him by Nigerian Students. He said he won the NANS Presidential election convincingly and for that he was not ready to surrender the mandate.
The NANS President made this disclosure while addressing newsmen on the after effects of his election victory. According to Mr Obi he went round the 36 states of the federation including Abuja convincing the Students Union Governments to vote for him. “While I was doing rigorous campaigns among the delegates my traducers were busy sleeping believing that they can use whatever means to upturn the results to their favour.” “Now that the results of the election has turned in my favour with the delegates finding me worthy of leading them they are declaring themselves winners. If it worked before it cannot work now.”
“What is the onus of proof that they won? Are they going to manufacture another delegates list above the one we used for the election in order to get a close margin or what? I can’t understand what came of them that made them begin to address themselves winners?
Maybe there are external influence that wants to subvert the collective will of the Nigerian Students.”
“Although the election is not a do or die affair for me. But you cannot beat a man and still ask him not to cry. The students have said this is my turn that was why they gave me their support. They should wait for their turn as well. After all, life is turn by turn.”
He has asked his teeming supporters to be law abiding as he is convinced that God will put his enemies to shame.
