Publishers of Community Newspapers under the aegis of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Council have passed a Vote of Confidence on the leadership of the Chairman, Comrade Jude Obiemenyego .
The entire house unanimously passed the Vote of Confidence on the Chairman , Comrade Jude Obiemenyego at an enlarged meeting held at the Association’s Secretariat in Asaba.
This was stated in a peace meeting brokered by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Newspapers, Prince Orhmonokpaye.
Comrade Obiemenyego maintained that ACNPN remains a united and strong umbrella body for Community Newspaper Publishers in the State .
Speaking further, the Chairman of the Association disclosed that the Association had provided waiver for the three re-admitted publishers, Chief Femi Odonmita, Publisher of Warri Voice Newspaper, Chief Daniel Ekiugbo, Publisher of Ugheli Times, and Dr Dike Awana, Publisher of Frontline News, noting that they will also have to meet up with certain Constitutional requirements in order to strengthen their membership.
Responding in their separate remarks, the publisher of Warri Voice pledged to work in harmony with the Constitution of the Association.
He noted that with his age, he is prepared to offer an advisory role to the Association, not contesting for any position again.
Also Speaklng, Chief Daniel Ekiugbo appreciated the house for holding front all these while they have been away , sustaining the ideals of the founding fathers of the Association and he promised to follow all constitutional procedures of the Association as required for re-admission.
Comrade Dike Awana noted that despite his absence from the activities of the Association, he had always shown concern on the wellbeing of the Association and also promised that he will abide by the constitutional provisions of the Association.
He commended the Chairman,Comrade Jude Obiemenyego and the house for their doggedness and perseverance over the years.
In the same vein, members of the Association further paid a solidarity visit to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Sir Festus Ahon in his office at the Government House.
On his part, Sir Festus Ahon congratulated the Chairman and members of the Association for towing the path of peace.
He added that in achieving the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori , all stakeholders must operate in a rancorous free atmosphere.
Ahon also said that the government is open to constructive criticism and not destructive reports that is capable of pulling the government down.
He further appealed to all members of ACNPN to work with the leadership of comrade Jude Obiemenyego and also help in publicizing the many good works of Governor Sheriff’s Oborevwori administration.
