The Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku has matriculated 2,557 newly admitted students into the 2023/2024 academic session.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Bldr. Professor Emmanuel Achuenu announced this during the matriculation ceremony held at the polytechnic events center on Saturday 9 of march, 2024
While welcoming the newly admitted students, Bldr. Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, said matriculation is a yearly event to formally admit new students into full membership of institution.
Professor Achuenu said all matriculants should count themselves the lucky ones found worthy to be admitted into the institution from the large number of admission seekers.
The Rector explained that matriculation is a term used to describe student’s formal and official entry into the polytechnic or any other tertiary institution with the administration of Oath of allegiances into the Institutions.
He said, “the matriculation ceremony being witnessed today marks the beginning of an academic era for each of you (the matriculants). You are now expected to draw up a blueprint on how to achieve your academic peaks”
“Your educational pursuits shall not be taken for granted. It must be used to develop your minds towards a good understanding of the dynamics of the society”.
“All students must ensure that you work with the institution’s motto, which is “CREATIVITY FOR DEVELOPMENT.”
He continued; “It is expected that at the end of your training, you must be an asset and not a liability, all this can be achieved by attending your lectures and participating in your practical, continuous assessment and finally examinations”
“Discipline and good conduct are germane to learning, you are therefore expected to obey all rules and regulations of the Polytechnic, he added.
Professor Achuenu advised the newly admitted students to shum all forms of negative tendencies like cultism, examinations malpractice, stealing, fighting, destruction of school or individual properties, indecent dressing, and ensure that they are found worthy in character and in learning”
The Rector on behalf of the institution management assure parents and stakeholders that the polytechnic is prepared to raise leaders of tomorrow who would be well equipped in their various fields of endeavors.
He commended Delta State Government, stakeholders, Management Team and dedicated staff of the polytechnic for their consistency and support towards moving the Institution to an Olympian height.
