An eminent Old Boy of Ogume Grammar School Mr Chukwuma Ossaiga has handed over the multi million Naira library he built in his Alma Mater to the school authority.
The colourful ceremony was done yesterday at the school premises.
The principal of the school Mrs Alice Nwosa who was beaming with a charming smile appreciated God for making the dream a reality in her tenure as the Principal. She also appreciated the philanthropic gesture of Mr Chukwuma Ossaiga and prayed to God for protection and for his source not to get dried up. She used the occasion to call on old students of the school, sons and daughters of Ogume to take a que from Mr Ossaiga. She said with the state -of-the art library equipped with modern books the students have no reason to fail any subject in both internal and external examinations.
Mr Ossaiga while speaking tasked the school authority to manage the library efficiently and effectively with a promise not to turn his back at the school. ” This is the school that made me and the onus lies on me to give back her.” He also promised to pay one month salary of both the corpers and the community teachers, a gesture that was applauded.
Speaking at the occasion, Uncle Alaska Ekele tasked the school authority and the community to guard the library jealously and never to allow wanton destruction and burning down of the school property (a situation that led to the closure of the school in October 2021) to repeat itself. He thanked Mr Ossaiga for setting a pace in the literary world in the school. He promised to strengthen the tie between Mr Ossaiga and South South Writers Forum for healthy academic competitions in the school.
