Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has directed six nominees for appointment as Commissioners and Members of the State Executive Council to submit 35 copies of their Curriculum Vitae by the end of work today, Wednesday, and to appear for screening at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday.
During Tuesday’s resumed plenary session, Rt Hon Guwor announced the names of the nominees as forwarded to his office by the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori. The nominees include Barrister Val Areyenka, Hon Peter Uviejitobor, Barrister Trakiriowei Harry ThankGod, Chief Ebikeme Clark, Mr. Sunday Tatà buzogwu, and Mr. Okocha Nduka Benjamin.
Governor Oborevwori, in his letter read by the Speaker, stated that the appointments are in line with constitutional provisions and aimed at strengthening good governance in the state. Citing Section 192, Subsection 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended), the Governor emphasized his authority to make such appointments and urged the lawmakers for prompt legislative actions on the nominees to facilitate their appointments as stipulated by the Constitution.
In a related development, Speaker Guwor, at Tuesday’s plenary, commended the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) for successfully organizing a free, fair, and credible local government election on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
