The leadership of the Pan Anioma Group (PAG) has cautioned dissenting voices against Senator Ned Nwoko’s call to step down the Okpai power plant for the benefit of the people in the locality.

The group stated this against the backdrop of some people kicking against the call of the senator for the state government to fund the power stepdown at Okpai in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking at Abuja after a closed door meeting with critical stakeholders of Anioma extraction, the President of the group, Chief Ebinum Okwuolise, said that the youths in the state have been closely following and analysing the political trends in the three senatorial districts of the the state, adding that all past senators from the administration of James Ibori through those of Uduaghan to Okowa were conventionally privileged to produce some critical elected political office holders in their respective senatorial districts, including members of the House of representatives.

Chief Okwuolise said James Manager and Okowa produced their elected and appointed office holders in their local government and federal constituencies, wondering why Senator Ned Nwoko has been denied such a conventional privilege, not even to produce a councilor !

He lamented that this is a dangerous precedent, adding that the senator was not deterred with the glaring anomaly, but had gone ahead to perform his role as a senator creditably.

He said calling on the state government by Senator Ned Nwoko to fund the Okpai power step down or negotiate with private sector players was not out of place, considering the volume of money the state government had so far received from the Federation Account only this year.

He frowned at some people attacking the senator for disclosing the outcome of his meeting with the state governor over the project, saying that the youths were happy over the development as it was a pointer to why so many important projects were not given the needed attention.

The leader of the group said the youths will continue to support the iron cast determination of the senator to represent Delta North Senatorial District and attract greater development of the area in the state, adding that it was such burning desire to extricate Anioma Nation from underdevelopment and neglect that informed the renewed call for the creation of Anioma State within the Southeast geopolitical zone of the country by Senator Ned Nwoko.
