Ogume Electricity Project Ready In Few Days Time

Jan 8, 2025

The Ogume Electricity Project which was attracted by the Commissioner for Urban Renewal Engr Michael Anoka has reached advanced stage and would be ready in few days time.

The project which was valued at N65 million was supposed to be ready before Christmas Day having brought the Step Down, RMU and Auto Reclosure; but it was discovered at the point of installation that the component parts of the transformers at Olie Primary School, Obisu and Igbe Ogume have been stolen.

This development prompted the Commissioner to commit his personal money of over N13 million to put the stolen transformers into functional use. What is left is to energize the transformers after fixing them. This, according to the contractor handling the project would take a few days to be accomplished.

Speaking to Ndokwa Vanguard on the project, the Commissioner for Urban Renewal Engr Michael Anoka said he decided to chest out on the project because Ogume people cannot continue to wallow in darkness.

“Each time I visit home I know the amount of money I spend on diesel just because of my comfort and that of my family. I do that because I can afford it. What about those people that cannot buy generator let alone fueling it. I just need the comfort of everyone of us.”

Again, once there is light, commercial activities in Ogume would improve which would have multiplyer effects.”

He has called on transformer and cable thieves to have a rethink, stressing that it was absurd for one to steal his property and put everybody in darkness.
Engr Anoka has also urged the villagers to guard the transformers jealously
