Delta State Traffic Management Authority, DESTMA, has said it will go tough on traffic defaulters across the state with the power enabling them to control and manage traffic by Delta State Government.
The Director General, Hon.(Dr.) Benjamin Okiemute disclosed this during an interview on Wednesday at Asaba.
The Director General, while reeling out the mission statement of the traffic management, said was to ensure that all roads across Delta state and beyond are free from traffic congestion and obstructions.
He said motorists, keke and any other things that may cause obstructions for the free movement must obey the rules and regulations of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority
He maintained that it is the duty of DESTMA to take control and ensure that Delta state roads are free from accidents, road congestion and blockages.
Dr. Okiemute noted that the state Governor MORE AGENDA has shown that Delta state will be in a good position like every other state, pointing out that the good changes you are seeing is a rebranding of DESTMA.
The DG disclosed further that the state Governor has shown a total support for DESTMA to take is position in carrying out her duties and obligations in traffic management in the state.
While warning strictly that the law will not pardon any keke, motorist if anyone default the traffic rules, just as he noted that hence keke riders should keep to the manufacturer’s recommendation of the number of passengers they ought to carry and avoid plying on the highway.
The DG also said trading, and packing of vehicles within and alongside the summit junction would not be allowed going forward as plans are already in place to sensitize the public
