Ahead of Celebration to mark Delta State Governor two years anniversary in May 29, 2025, the Honourable Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Ejiro Terry Etacherure on Wednesday disclosed that, the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has done absolutely well and was optimist the Governor would continue his Development Stride to better improved the lives of citizens in the state.
Honourable Etacherure who spoke to journalists at the state Secretariat in Asaba said there are numerous achievements on ground to marked the two years anniversary while urging Deltans to expect more these infrastructural developments across the state.
Etacherure highlighted the administration of Sheriff Oborevwori within the two in office, the has established a New Fire Service Station in Abraka, Orereokpe, and other ongoing plans by the state Governor to equally establish a Fire Service center in Asaba, the State Capital.
The Commissioner also hinted that various interventions and interface through the Ministry, Bureau for Special Duties for victims of the Agbor, Oghara fire incident where compensation were paid, distributions of food items worth billions to the various victims across the state.
He noted that the Governor has given a nod for more approvals for the ministry to acquire new fire service trucks and there are other ongoing plans to enable the ministry to actively respond to incident of fire situation across the state.
Also, reacting to the recent fallen tanker at Asaba/ Onisha expressway, the commissioner commended the quick response of the staff of the fire service unit in the state for their swift interventions to curtail the situation.
While describing the situation as quite unfortunate, but, however, noted that no life was lost.
According to him: “it is quite unfortunate, of the incident that occurred on the Asaba/Onisha expressway by Bonsac. It is quite unfortunate that it happened, but most importantly, no lives were lost”.
” It was as a result of impatient by the tanker driver, when we got the information yesterday, I ordered the Delta state fire service staff to take action immediately, which they responded to because we are always prepared for the unexpected”
” But I am happy and thank God because the driver and a lot of persons there have learnt a lot of lessons, and if not for the state fire service staff intervention a lot would have happened because it happened at the center of the market”
On the flood, the Commissioner explained that flooding is a natural disaster and the state would continue to do her best to ensure that Delta citizens are safe, adding that measures are already in place.
He said; “honestly, the Governor is a man who came prepared, and he is working day and night to make sure that Deltans state citizens get the benefits of democracy”
” You can see the quality of jobs he is also doing, he has extended it to my ministry, the governor is interested in every part of the state”
