As part of Community Social Responsibility, Energia and Oando Joint Ventures Limited have donated 3 Sienna vehicles, 24 motorcycles and over 50 VHF radios to beef-up security surveillance in Emu-Ebendo, Obodougwa, Umusam, Ogbeani, Isumpe, Umusadege and Ogbole communities in Ndokwa West, Delta state.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Operating Officer, Energia Limited, Engr. Bash Olademeji said Energia/Oando Joint Ventures is committed to the security, safety and well-being of the host Communities.
Olademeji noted that aside the Memorandum of Understanding, Energia/Oando is committed to improving security within the host communities.
He said: “one of the things that we are committed to, is the security, safety and well-being of the Communities and that is one of the reasons why we decided that as token aside the MoU and as part of Community Social Responsibility to improve security within the Communities”.
Engr. Bash commended the Communities for their sustainable peace, saying if not for the peace they enjoyed, they won’t have been in business.
“ Let me also appreciate you for the peace that we have enjoyed, if not for your peace, we will not be in business”
“ I want to also ask for more that we should continue to dialogue, violence does not bring solution to anything, so if there are issues we will listen, and if we are successful, we will do more”.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Delta state Ministry of Oil and Gas, Mr. Frank Omoko urged the host Communities to utilize the items presented to them and also seek advice from the security because they are well equipped in that area.
He said, “I believe whatever instruments Energia has put in place is to complement the security forces, whether motorcycles or vehicles, know that you are tied to the police and the military”
” You must have that synergy, you cannot just work on your own, you must seek advice from the police and the military because they are well-equipped in that area”
” Ensure that you work smoothly with them so that we can have peace and build more on the peace that is already existing in this environment. It is peace we need in the state, if there is peace there will be discovery of more oil wells”
Also commending the company at the presentation the Army Captain, the Divisional Police Officer, Kwale and Abbi Divisions urged the host Communities to make use of the items for the purpose of which they were given, noting that whenever they need support they will always respond while urging the company to also remember the security agents for always ensuring the peace and protection of life and properties
Responding on behalf of the host Communities, Chairman, Community Development Committee, Emu-Ebendo, Mr. Sunday Enewuzo lauded Energia, Oando Joint Ventures for their good work in the host Communities.
He assured that all impacted Communities will continue to protect and guide the company’s facilities, saying “when there is any harm to your facilities it also affects our share. We will always ensure the security of your staff and faculties in the Communities.”
