The chairman of the D- Peterson Foundation on Wednesday said over 2000 students are undergoing training at the University of Delta, Agbor, on cybersecurity in a tripartite arrangement between the D-Peterson Foundation, his office as special adviser, and the University of Delta, while plans are ongoing to launch an agro-preneurship programme.
The chairman of the D- Peterson Foundation and special adviser to the Delta State Governor on entrepreneurship disclosed this during an interview in his country home in Agbor.
Dr Peterson explained that the Delta-preneurship scheme, which is the Techpreneurship programme has seven modules , including cybersecurity, for free under a tripartite arrangement between the D-Peterson Foundation, his office, and the University of Delta, Agbor
The programme scheme, tagged Agro-preneurship Scheme, has the sole aim of teaching Deltans the credible alternatives to feeds for their livestock
He said the Agro-preneurship is expected to reduce high costs associated with purchasing the regular feeds for sustaining chickens, goats, pigs, and other livestock.
The Special Adviser revealed that the cost Techpreneurship training for the 2,000 beneficiaries at N500,000 per module, which translates to N3.5million for each student , is estimated at N7 billion
Dr. Peterson also disclosed that at the end of the training programme, graduates would be issued certification from the university and also potential employers of labour which falls in line with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda
He commended Governor Oborevwori for the recent multi-million naira flyover project across the Uromi junction axis in Agbor, saying the gesture was a welcome relief that will not only reinvigorate and boost economic activities around that axis but will also ensure the safety of lives.
He added that apart from the aesthetics the project will bring to the area, it underscores the pro development mindset of Governor Oborevwori in ensuring that every area benefits from his administration’s developmental agenda
The Special Adviser also disclosed that apart from youth friendly programmes, his office is also charged with the task of making the elderly in the state resourceful and productive , while hinting of plans to launch a programme in that regard that will engender their life sustainability, higher productivity, and resourcefulness going forward.
