The Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, on Monday, said he is 100 percent confident that the transport ministry would deliver on its 2026 budget, saying the ministry has also received a 100 percent increase in allocation.
Addressing journalists immediately after the ministry’s inter-ministry budget presentation at the state secretariat, Asaba, the Commissioner said the increase will reflect the confidence the state government reposes in the ministry’s performance and the need to expand transportation development across the state.
He said, “We had a 100 percent increase in our budget envelope; for leadership to increase our allocation, it means we are doing well and they want us to do even better.”
He revealed that the transport ministry has achieved over 50 percent performance in its outgoings budget implementation, highlighting several completed and ongoing projects that aimed at improving the transportation sector and services in the state.
In his words, “The transport ministry has successfully built and replicated four to five new motor parks in different locations, including Warri and Asaba.”
The Commissioner also hinted at other successes within the period in view with the introduction of the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system to enhance vehicle identification and security monitoring in the state.
On infrastructure, Agofure said the state Government in partnership with the Federal Government, will construct a modern ultra-urban transport terminal in Warri, and other similar transport terminals will be replicated in Asaba and other major areas across the state to improve intercity mobility and enhance economic activities.
