The Honourable Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Terry Ejiro Etacherure on Wednesday reaffirmed the ministry’s commitments to improving responses to emergencies across the state in protecting lives and properties.
The Honourable Commissioner stated this while addressing newsmen immediately after his defense of the inter-ministry budget at the state secretariat in Asaba.
Hon. Etacherure explained that the ministry’s proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year was a clear guide by the state Government to develop all parts of the state
He maintained that the bureau ministry have followed due processes in ensuring every emergency is attended to in line with the state Governor’s development mantra.
The Commissioner highlighted that, the ministry has made significant achievements through the expansion of the state fire service infrastructure.
He said, “We have performed significantly in the outgoing year, particularly in modernizing and expanding the state’s fire service infrastructure.”
He continued, “We were able to renovate and upgrade existing fire stations, build new ones in Abraka, and others with auto repair with a standby generator and solar power system—making it a modern facility.”
On disaster:
“Climate-related disasters are not things you plan for, but when they occur, we must be ready to respond. Preventive measures have been factored into our plans.”
