Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Barrister Perez Omoun, on Friday, in Asaba enjoined executive members of Delta GOFARM Community, an agro based organisation, in the state to work in line with the State governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.

The commissiiner gave the charge during the inauguration of the state Executive Committee of Gofarm Nigeria Limited at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, Asaba.
He tasked the six-man team led by Chief Sony Neme, to promote agriculture, a vision of the state governor, by working in tandem with the mission and vision of GOFARM and manifest success that would add meaning to the value chain of agriculture in the state.
According ro the commissioner, “This administration is is focused on meaningful engagement with farmers in the state, that will impact positively on the land, because we believe that if everyone can tilt towards owning a farm, there would be food security in the state.
” If agriculture must take her rightful of place of providing food security, we must also weigh our interest in land holding.
“We are assuring GOFARM Delta of government collaboration, so members of this executive should roll up their sleeves and walk the talk of your organisation, by ensuring that food security becomes a reality in the state”.
In his goodwill message, the Grand Patron, Pharmacist Paul Enebeli called for the diversification of the state revenue from oil to an agriculturally stable state.
Enebeli, while urging Delta GOFARM Community to work alongside the Commissioner in ensuring they achieve their visions of food security and changing the narrative to a food producing state, said: “With capable hands like those of Rt. Hon Sherrif Oborevwori, and his capable team, Delta is bound for a revival of this important economic driver that agriculture is; especially as the state is blessed with fertile lands for agricultural product.
“That can become a major source of revenue and not just oil, hence the need for all hands to be on deck in ensuring that there is food sufficiency in the state”, adding that the strength lies in agriculture, “I look towards to the organization uniting with government and make the best out of the state rich and vast land, so that we can give out palliative to people based on clusters”.
In his welcome address, Delta GOFARM Ambassador, Chief Sony Neme, hailed the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, for displaying an unusual leadership trait.
His word’s: “I am highly honoured with your presence, even at barely 24 hours notice!!
“This is sure a new dawn, as we join forces with our amiable governor, Rt. Hon. Sherrif Oborevwori, in commitments towards a success Agric revolution that is ongoing in the state.
“Today is historic in many ways as we join 19 other states that have keyed into GOFARM to stem hunger and poverty that is ravaging our dear country.”
In her vote of thanks, The Financial Secretary, Deaconess Edna Ojieh, exoressed appreciation to the state governor and the Commissioner for thier support towards the organization.
Those unveiled as members of Delta GOFARM Community EXCO were, the State Ambassador, Chief Sony Neme; Admin. Secretary, Mrs Christy Aboghe; and Public Relations Officer, Blessing Okuya. Others are Mrs Ebere Esuabom, Marketing manager, Mr Theo Odonore, Cooperative officer, and Deaconess Edna Ojieh, Financial Secretary.
The event had the presence of representatives from Gofarm Nigeria Limited management team from Benue, Edo, Anambra and Imo State.
