The Hon. commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Delta state, Hon. Mrs. Rose Ezewu have said School Principals and CIE have term up to fight back when she attempted to stop all avenues and illegalities of some school principals and teachers extorting students and parents for a whopping sum of N40,000 to N80,000 respectively for admission into public schools.

The Hon. Commissioner gave this revelation in Asaba when she was reacting to the publication making round that she directed school principals and CIE to purchase the governor’s portrait for N20,000 across the state.

The said such allegation is laughable and was cooked up by some principals to discredit her for preventing them from extorting students and parents.

She said, “you cannot be taking N40,000 and N80,000 for admission, when I storm the schools involved, some teachers would rather not work, they come to school as they like”.

She maintained “ Most principals are after extorting students and parents, I stop this illegality, they start ranting and kicked against it”.

Noting ” The extortion that I was fighting against, that is why some principals and teachers are fighting back. I do not take rubbish from anyone”

Adding, “ It is expected that any school any principal or teachers find his/herself is to build and impact knowledge on the students and not extort them”.

She revealed, “ I have demoted some principals and teachers that are involved in this illegality and brought on board those that are ready from lower schools”.

She pointed out that “The state government understands there are challenges, that is why it approved PTA for schools through the ministry of basic and secondary education to enable schools principals to take of their challenges in their respective schools.

She noted that if “the principals know the right admission feels saying the previous administration approved a stipulated amount for that.
