The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), is set to replicate the content of the Healthy Living Initiative of Mrs Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor, in all the 179 communities of the state.
This was disclosed by the State Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra State, Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma, at a symposium on Healthy Living Advocacy organized by the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) youths at the ASATU Secretariat Hall, Government House, Awka, the state capital.
Represented by Mr Emeka Ugwu, Assistant Director, Information, NYSC, Anambra State, the Coordinator said, “The Healthy Living project is not only noble but equally has semblance of the NYSC’s Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers and therefore should be adopted by the NYSC and reproduced in all the 179 Communities in the state.
“The scheme has enough Corps doctors, pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists and other paramedics to carry out the assignment.
“The areas of coverage include free sensitization campaigns, medical checkup, counseling, dignosis, referral and prescription.”
Mrs Iruma emphasized that any community that invites the NYSC for the medical outreach is expected to source for drugs for use on that day.
The content of the Healthy Living pet project are nutrition, environmental sanitation, personal hygiene, relaxation, exercise, walk, health education, routine medical checkup and community shared values.
The Coordinator, therefore called on ASATU Youths to sensitize their communities on the collaboration of the NYSC with the First Lady of Anambra State and invite NYSC to their communities to assist the rural dwellers have a healthy living lifestyle.
