DSPG 3RD CONVOCATION: Achuenu Harps On Strengthening Academic Programmes, Innovations

The Rector of Delta state polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Bldr Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu has said strengthening academic activities remain his topmost priority as promised before officially assuming office on August 1, 2021, just as he harps on some of his successes.

Briefing newsmen in his office as part of activities lined up to mark the institution,s combined 3rd convocation ceremony to be held on Saturday November 18, 2023 , the Rector vowed to deliver more on the promises he made upon assumption of office in 2021

The DSPG rector explained that Delta state polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku is one of the foremost institutions in Delta and within the south-south geopolitical zone.

Prof Achuenu said that the core mandate of the polytechnic is to deliver quality education, especially in the areas of teaching learning, development, research, and innovations.

The DSPG rector maintained that the polytechnic is more interested in teaching technology, which they had been doing since he assumed office.

Prof Achuenu hinted that most of the teaching learning were done in the lab because of it peculiarity on technology, saying the polytechnic is place of developing technology and moving the nation towards greatness.

The Rector disclosed that with the support of the management, he had been able to grow the number of students from where he met it to what it is currently.

He Added that he facilitated the school of environmental studies, ICT school that his predecessor facilitated, which jamb is using for examination before assuming office.

Prof Achuenu also noted that the school has facilitated Microsoft satisfaction centre where students will be trained and have handsome knowledge of ICT and digital skills.

He continued, that institution has introduced a renewable center to also train students on energy generation considering challenges Nigeria is going through on light.

The DSPG rector said the renewable energy training is opened to all that are interested and that students are to gain first-hand knowledge on the requirements of manufacturing solar system and how it operates.

Prof Achuenu disclosed that the renewal energy programme is a collaboration of UNITOTAL ENERGY LIMITED, but funded and managed by DSPG.

He, however, called on the state government, NGOs, and others for support, especially on the perimeter fencing of the school to enable her to curb insecurity challenges.
