Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale Kicks Off Next Academic Session- Prof Onunu
The Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale, Prof Abel Onunu has said that the school would take off from the temporary site any moment as the federal government has put the school in next year’s budget and that Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB would admit students from next academic session.
He made the disclosure yesterday at Utagba Ogbe during an interactive session he had with the leadership of Utagba Ogbe and Emu Ebendo communities. The meeting was held at the residence of Chief Theophilus Adoh, President General of Utagba Ogbe.
The Vice Chancellor, said that the school was approved by the former President Muhammadu Buhari on May 28, 2023 and that through the concerted efforts of Deltans President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rectified the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences Kwale and that of Mubi.
He said what was needed was demarcation of the land donated and Certificate of Occupancy for the lands from Delta State Government. He also disclosed how he met with relevant authorities at both federal and Delta State to ensure that things went well.
Prof Onunu said that the university would help develop Ukwuani nay Delta State and stressed the need to acquire enough land for expansion purposes and for other campuses in Ukwuani communities as there would be room for Teaching Hospital, Staff quarters, pharmaceutical and drug manufacturing unit, Staff School etc.
Responding, chiefs Toni Egboh Ezeukwu, Dennis Okoh, Theophilus Adoh who spoke in unison on behalf of Ebendo and Utagba Ogbe communities appreciated the Vice Chancellor, Prof Abel Onunu for finding time to attend the meeting and for the efforts he has been putting to ensure smooth take off of the university.
They assured that there is large expanse of land donated by both Umuseti and Ebendo for the permanent site of the university and that the school can take off at Utagba Ogbe Technical College as temporary site.
They said what was needed was to launch a campaign to ensure that our children go for science subjects in the secondary school in order to be admitted as it is a specialized school that requires science subjects.
