6th Matriculation Ceremony: Oborevwori Pledges Continued Support For Admiralty University Of Nigeria

The Delta State Governor , Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori , has expressed the determination of his administration to support the Admiralty University of Nigeria ( ADUN), in it’s bid to bequeath top notch education through an enabling environment , to it’s students

The Governor have this assurance at the 6th matriculation ceremony of the institution held at it’s Admiral Dele Ezeoba multi purpose auditorium, Saturday february 17th , 2024

Represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education , Professor Nyerhovwo Tonikari, Governor Oborevwori urged the matriculants to take their studies seriously while striving for excellence

The Governor also called on the ADUN management to encourage the students to participate in extra curricular activities such as sports and entrepreneurial development , noting that such activities will help the students develop their talents as well as broaden their bargaining power in the fast moving dynamic age of skills

Earlier in his address to the 352 matriculating students which he titled “Live rightly , produce great results, the Vice Chancellor of the University , Professor Paul Omojo Omaji promised to maintain the university imprints, and it values.

Prof. Omojo urged the matriculants to be diligent and ensures that their handbook is always their guide, and honour the sacrifices that is been made for their future.

Prof. Omaji hinted that ADUN was destined for greatness, and the objective of the University is to expand the frontiers of knowledge in various unique specializations.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the matriculation is first major rite of passage for those who are freshly enrolled into a degree course of study, and by taking an oath of commitment during the ceremony, those students become inducted into the university.

The VC said by matriculating, their membership again entitled them to the rights, privileges, and responsibilities that come along with the induction.

Prof. Omojo explained that the Navy’s foresight of establishing the institution was worthy of commendation and celebration, adding that it has created university education opportunity for those matriculated and also attest to the resilience of the Navy’s commitment towards the product of its foresight.

Omojo added, “the strategic goal is for you the matriculants to graduate at the end of your study and as a luminary leader capable of making notably and positive impact which should help your world to, as ADUN mission states.

While congratulating the matriculants, the group managing director/ chief executive office, Navy holding limited, rear admiral Hug Kaoje who was represented by Admiral Adetime Kayode noted that the objective of the university is to promote knowledge, skills, and aptitudes on maritime arts, science, and technology in furtherance of national security and development.

The guest lecturer, and Secretary to State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, who spoke on the topic “Achieving Career Objectives in a Challenging Economy: The Role of Government and University in Partnership” advised the matriculating students to think outside their courses and embrace other new innovations so as to be self reliant

The matriulation ceremony was well attended by top government functionaries and top traditional rulers who represent the Obuzor of lbusa and Obi of Ogwashi uku.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the administration of the matriculation oath on the 352 matriculants
