Oyibode Urged Host Communities For Proper Utilization Of Coal Deposits

In a bid to ensure proper utilization of abundant coal deposits in the state, the commissioner for Oil and Gas, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode has urged host communities to properly utilize all coal deposits.

The commissioner disclosed this on Monday 18 of March 2024 during a working visit to a coal mining company in Ugboba Community in Aniocha North Local Government Area in the state.

Oyibode noted during his address that state Government is interested in seeing that the mining activities are carried out in an ecologically friendly environment and which all stakeholders, including the host community, will be benefited.

In a brief chart with the traditional ruler of Ugboba, community, HRM, Obi Ezedimbu III, the commissioner appealed to the community to take advantage of the ministry’s intermediary role when the need arises, saying that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration is responsive and supportive of the aspirations of any communities for a mutually benefits and explorations of the mineral resources in the land.

The commissioner assured the mining company, Mosra Energy Limited of the state Government’s support, especially in peace and security, and enhancing the ease of doing business for both local and foreign investors in line with Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.

The site manager, Mr. Ishola Emmanuel, assured that the power plant project will soon start running, and that the host community will be fully involved in the employment process.

Mosra Energy Limited is a coal mining company license covering four communities, stretching 11.6kms of land, but is presently working at the Ugboba mining site.
