Ahead of preparations for the Golden Jubilee celebration of Ogume Grammar School next year, Prof Emmanuel Achuenu, one of the pioneer students has visited the school to know the pressing needs of the school. The visit was a fall out of the meeting of Set 80 (first set of the school). In Prof Achuenu’s entourage was Emmanuel Ossai, the Senior Prefect for set 85.
Before conducting the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku round the school, the Principal Mrs Alice Nwosa also a product of the school had a brief meeting with the visitor. The Principal appreciated Prof Achuenu’s visit and pointed out Corpers Lodge as one of the pressing needs of the school. “All the corpers posted to the school are quartered in private residences . The school also lack laboratory equipment among other pressing needs”. She used the occasion of the visit to inform Prof Achuenu about the giant stride leaped by an eminent Old Boy of the school Mr Chukwuma Ossaiga who built and equipped the school library.
Responding, Prof Achuenu thanked the Principal for pointing out the pressing needs of the school with a promise to carry the message back to his colleagues in Set 80. He also appreciated Mr Chukwuma Ossaiga for his initiative at giving back to the school that made him.
Addressing the students, Prof Achuenu made them to know that the school has produced eminent personalities in the society and charged them to take their books seriously. “This is not a speech making day. At the appropriate time I would address you all.
The high point of the visit was conducting the visitor and his entourage round the school to see the new library, laboratory hall, Principal and Vice Principal’s quarters, the hostels of old, the dilapidated dinning hall etc.
