…Becomes Health Insurance Ambassador

As the Delta State Contributory Health Commission intensifies effort to attain Universal Health Coverage in 2030, another 240 Indigent Women in Urhobo nation have been enrolled into the health scheme courtesy Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata.
The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta led officials from the commission to register the women at the Urhobo Cultural Center Warri.
Dr. Akpoveta in his remarks, commended the Hon. Ighrakpata for what he called a remarkable and exemplary act of kindness, noting that by adopting and purchasing health insurance for 240 vulnerable persons, with 10 drawn from each of the kingdoms that comprised Urhobo nation, good health had been spread in the area.
He said the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative under which the 240 women were registered, Was initiated by him to ensure everyone regardless of financial status, received quality healthcare in line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda, noting that the Governor had given a mandate that none should be left behind.
The DG/ CEO called on all to support fellow community members in need by adopting and paying health insurance of #7000 per year for as many vulnerable persons as possible, that would help save a life, and build a more compassionate society where everyone could live a dignified life.
The Executive Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata said the gesture was his contribution to complement the efforts of Governor Oborevwori, bearing in mind that government cannot do it alone, adding that a healthy nation birthed a wealthy nation.
Hon. Ighrakpata expressed satisfaction with the state health insurance scheme, and called for support and prayers for the Governor to enable him actualize the MORE agenda, even as he urged Deltans to take the scheme seriously.
The President of the Urhobo Progress Union, Women Wing, Dame Rose Oghene recalled how she conceived the idea of reaching out to Urhobo women after watching the News about the health insurance scheme, and the promptness of the Commission in sensitizing the Women group after she reached out to the Commission, noting that the sensitization inspired the leadership of the group to reach out to philanthropists in Urhobo nation.
Dame Oghene thanked Hon. Ighrakpata for heeding their call to enroll some of their members and prayed for success in his endeavor, even as she urged Urhobo women to continue in their cooperation.
The new enrollees who spoke in an interview including Mrs Alice Emecho from Ogor kingdom, Mrs Margaret Jagboro from Uvwie kingdom, Mrs Victoria Eriri from Evwreni kingdom, were full of gratitude saying that they have been saved from emergency out-of-pocket expenditures on health, in the present harsh economy.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of plaque to Hon. Ighrakpata as a Health Insurance Ambassador by the Commission’s DG, and the presentation of health insurance cards to the women registered.
