Former Minister of Environment, Mrs Lawrencia Laraba-Mallam, has called for increased involvement of women in politics.
Speaking on Sunday, August 18, at a sensitization seminar organized by the Dignity of Women Commission, St. John’s Catholic Church, Kaduna on the theme: “Women participation in politics and guide for direction”, she lamented the economic situation in the country and said it has pushed the youths into trafficking, domestic abuse, kidnapping, among others.
The former Minister then urged women to come out and join politics to help build a better nation.
She added that people were being deceived that politics is a dirty game.
She said: “We are just beginning to know the truth and we must be very serious about this. God willing, we shall succeed.
“The drivers of the economy are 95% men. We all know that women are better managers; look at the homes, give a woman little milk, she will cater for her family very well.
“No wonder it is said that if you train a woman you have trained a nation.”
She stated that the voices of women are needed in the parliaments to speak out and condemn the rot going on.
