Chybee Foundation Empowers 50 Women, Eyes One Million More

Chybee Entrepreneurship Foundation for Women, a Non- Governmental Organization, on Saturday, 5th of October empowered 50 women with a grant of one hundred thousand Naira each for forty persons and 10 others with stewing machine to enable them grow their respective businesses.

The empowerment programme was in line with the vision to empower one million women across Africa with the tools and resources they require to grow their businesses.

The empowerment programme took place at sweet spirit hotel, Asaba, Delta state capital with the mission to ensure that young girls and women who have viable ideas and are ready to go into business to make a living, and also assist those with an existing business to grow and sustained their businesses.

In her welcome address, the founder, Chybee Entrepreneurship Foundation for Women, Lady Chukwudi Chinyere Zimako said, the third edition of the Chybee Business Support Grant was a journey that started last year October, where 10 women with the sum of a 100 thousand Naira each, this was followed by another one in April this year, where 30 women were empowered with the same amount of money.

She said, today another set of 50 people will be empowered with 10 sewing machines and the other 40 will be given grant of N100.000 Naira each to support their businesses respectively.

She noted that Chybee Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization whose majors are empowering women and girls , as well as supporting those with viable business ideas, saying her thematic focus is on SDG 1,2, and 8.

Likewise, she said the chybee foundation believes women are nation builders and change makers, that if a woman is empowered, she will support her family, support the economy and become financially independent and better managers.

While commending the chybee foundation and her team, member representing Oshimili South in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Bridget Ayanfulu advised the benefited women to make sure they strengthen the capacity of their homes, adding that when the home is in a safe hands, the state and will boardless of insecurity.

She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity and also ensure that they empower one or two vulnerable persons around their environment through learning of skills.

She prayed that God will bless chybee foundation for deeming it fit to lift 50 women by giving them grants and a stewing machine.

Also adding, Director Administration and Operations, Schoolville, Mr. Emmanuel Mukolu, commended chybee foundation for her wonderful platform for empowering women, and promised to strengthen the partnership with the foundation.

Speaking in interview with some benefitiaries, Miss. Favour Ozor, a hairstylist, said she was overwhelmed, considering the present economy situation in the country, adding that it is not an easy thing for someone to roll out a hundred thousand Naira as grant to over 40 persons without a refund.

While Juliet Chinedu Azum noted that it takes a very good heart to have someone to like her giving out grants and a stewing machine to people she don’t even know.

The beneficiaries, however, prayed that God almighty will bless chybee foundation and called on those who have not benefited to hold on to faith that definitely it will be their turn.

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of award, fashion exhibitions, Dance.
