
****The Delta State Complementary and Alternative Medicine Regulation Bill scaled through second time reading on the floor of the State Assembly

Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday passed a vote of confidence on the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
This was sequel by a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Honourable Emeka Nwaobi during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor.
While congratulating Governor Oborevwori on his giant developmental strides, the speaker said Deltans have never had it so good, as the remarkable developments across every sector of the economy is visible to all.
Guwor noted that his various awards were clear testaments of his remarkable achievements, which he described as second to none in the country.
Revealing that Deltans are indeed proud of Governor’s achievements, just as he urged the Governor to continue to do more for the people.
Meanwhile, a bill to regulate Complementary and Alternative medicine in the State was read the second time.
Lead sponsor of the Bill and member representing Isoko South 2, Honourable Ferguson Onwo, said the proposed bill is meant to repeal the existing law of 2008, changing its name from Traditional Medicine Board to Complementary and Alternative Medicine Board adding that the board has suffered a lot of setback as the name was hindering its growth.
Other lawmakers who spoke in favour of the bill said the intended Bill would restructure the board, regulate their practices, ensure that qualified practitioners are registered, and spell out punishment for offenders.
The Bill which enjoyed unanimous support was referred to the House Committee on Special Bills by the Speaker to report back on April 1, 2025.
