VCare for Development Foundation, a non- profit organisation that works to make a long term social, economic, and environmental impact on communities in alignment with national and global sustainable goals, has held its grand finale on the creative science project exhibition.
The creative science project exhibition, themed “Igniting Minds Through Science,” took place in Utagba-Ogbe Grammar School, Kwale, Ndokwa West local government area in Delta State.
The secondary schools that participated in the grand finale include Ase Grammar School, Ase; Isumpe Mixed Secondary School; Ashaka Mixed Secondary School Ashaka; Okpai Oluchi, Abbi Girls Secondary Comprehensive Secondary School; Odugba Secondary School; Utagba-Ogbe Grammar School, Kwale; Ossissa Secondary School, Ossissa; Igbuzu Secondary School, Igbuzu; and Utagba-Ogbe Technical College.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Delta State, who was ably represented by the Director of Science Education, Ministry of Secondary Education, Mrs. Hope Igumbor, said the science project exhibition is apt, being the first of its kind by VCare Development Foundation in Delta State.
Igumbor maintained that the initiative complement the State Government’s effort to identify gaps in teaching service delivery
She, however, appreciated the management of the VCare for Development Foundation for the noble project.
Speaking in an interview, the programme manager of VCare Delta State, Mr. Daniel Obamina, noted that the foundation is committed to providing support to vulnerable communities and families and, by extension, also responsible for building a stronger capacity in terms of supporting Government.
He emphasized that the VCare operates in thematic areas that include integrated healthcare systems, comprehensive education, gender and social inclusion, and sustainable livelihood, where scholarship programme are provided to vulnerable families.
Also highlighting the benefits of the foundation, assistant manager Dr. Duke Edem noted that the creative science project exhibition aimed at igniting all science students to bring up a positive outcome in them.
While commending VCare Foundation for the opportunity given to them on behalf of the students, the winner of the creative science project exhibition competition, Utagba-Ogbe Technical College, Miss Testimony Kemka, said the competition gave them the opportunity to showcase their individual talents and experience.
The high point of the event is the presentation of certifications and scientific materials to participants and cultural dance.
