The Delta State Police Command has impounded 21 vehicles during an intelligence-led enforcement operation carried out in Abraka and Ozoro as part of efforts to enforce traffic regulations and enhance public safety.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on behalf of the Delta State Police Command on Wednesday.
The operation, conducted on Monday, July 21, 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, who supervised command operatives on an enforcement patrol targeting traffic violations and other related offences.
According to the police, the affected vehicles were impounded for offences including failure to display registration number plates, use of covered number plates, and possession of expired vehicle documents.
The command said the vehicles would undergo the appropriate legal and administrative processes in line with existing laws.
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi said vehicles without proper identification or valid documentation constitute a significant security risk, noting that such vehicles could be exploited by criminals to facilitate unlawful activities.
He urged motorists to comply with all vehicle registration and traffic regulations, stressing that the command would sustain intelligence-led enforcement operations across the state to improve public safety, strengthen security, and ensure strict compliance with the law.
