The Nigeria Customs Service, Edo/Delta Area Command, and the management of Delta Port, Warri, have pledged to strengthen cooperation and communication to improve port operations, safety and service delivery.
The commitment followed a courtesy visit by the Acting Customs Area Controller of the command, Deputy Comptroller Dooyum Dominic Ortsen, and his management team to the Port Manager, Saadi Dahiru Mohammed, on Wednesday.
The visit was aimed at reinforcing the existing relationship between the two institutions and identifying areas where closer collaboration could enhance activities within the port.
During the engagement, both parties emphasised the importance of maintaining cordial working relationships, regular communication and mutual understanding, noting that cooperation among stakeholders was essential to achieving common operational objectives.
They also acknowledged that although the Customs Service and port management have distinct responsibilities, their ability to work together remained important to promoting operational efficiency, safety and professionalism.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to discuss issues of mutual interest and explore ways to improve coordination in support of effective port operations.
It also highlighted the need for sustained dialogue between relevant stakeholders to address operational challenges, strengthen institutional relationships and ensure the smooth conduct of activities within the port environment.
The command said the engagement reflected its commitment to building sustainable partnerships with relevant stakeholders and maintaining positive institutional relations.
It added that continued interaction between both institutions would create opportunities for stronger cooperation and improved service delivery.
The statement said the command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the relationship through regular engagement, open communication and a shared determination to achieve common goals.
The statement was signed by Peters W. Josu, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I and Command Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Acting Customs Area Controller, Edo/Delta Area Command, on October 14, 2026.
The courtesy visit formed part of ongoing efforts by the Edo/Delta Area Command to promote stakeholder relations, encourage inter-agency cooperation and strengthen partnerships in the interest of efficient port operations.
