The Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ewomitimi Guor has charged Community Newspaper Publishers to à lways ensure they engage in proper cross checking of stories to avoid chunning out stories that are one sided.
Rt Hon. Guor who stated this while addressing Community Newspaper Publishers at the House of Assembly complex in Asaba noted that for the people of Delta State to understand government policies and work inline with their civic responsibility, Publishers must ensure they publish balance stories .
“It will do Deltans no good when you publish one sided story that is why it is important for you all to ensure that stories your field reporters send across to you for publications are adequately verified and balanced.”
Reassuring Publishers his commitment to sustain the cordial relationship his predecessor turn Governor, His Excellency Sherrif Oborevwori had with Community Newspaper Publishers, Rt. Hon. Ewomitimi Guor promise to encourage a better partnership that will transform lives of Publishers in the state.
“We are in the era of “MORE”, my Predecessor His Excellency, Governor Sherrif Oborevwori has pledge to deliver more infrastructural and Human Capital development to Deltans and we as lawmakers are fully ready to ensure that all the Constituents represented in this Chamber feel the impact of good governance”.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Community Newspaper Publishers in Delta , Comrade Jude Obiemenyego congratulated Rt. Hon. Ewomitimi Guor and other Principal Officers in the Delta State House of Assembly for their emergence in their various Key positions .
Comrade Jude Obiemenyego who spoke on behalf of members of his Executive and some members of the Association in a courtesy visit to the Speaker expressed confidence that no doubt , Deltans should be ready to experience another robust legislative section with the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ewomitimi Guor.
He appealed to the leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly to build on the legacy of His Excellency Sherrif Oborevwori who is also a Patron of Community Newspaper Publishers in the state.
Comrade Obiemenyego noted that members of ACNPN are ready to partner with law makers to ensure those in the grassroots benefits adequately from their representatives.
