Delta Commences Training For 12,500 Female Entrepreneurs

Delta State Government on Wednesday said it has commenced training for 12,500 female entrepreneurs in collaboration with Enterprise Development Centre/ MasterCard Foundation across the 25 local Government Area

The commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, and Girl Child Development, Hon. Orode Uduagha disclosed this during a press briefing at the state Secretariat, Asaba.

The commissioner said the training of the female entrepreneurs is the third phase of the Governor’s MORE GRANT SCHEME that was launched on May 23, 2024

Orode explained that the MORE GRANT SCHEME programme has three phases; the artisans, the petty traders and now the female entrepreneurs.

Hon. Orode noted that the third phase which will commence tomorrow 20th June for the b female entrepreneurs, will kick off at Okpe local government with 500 entrepreneurs.

According to her; ” starting from tomorrow 20th of June, we are going to start the 3 phase for the female entrepreneurs across Delta state, it will be a bit different from what we have done with artisans and petty traders”.

She said, “for the female entrepreneurs, we are collaborating with Enterprise Development Centre,( EDC)PAN Africa University, Lagos, they have collaborated with MasterCard Foundation, and they want to empower 3 million Africa youths with entrepreneurial management skills sets”

“So we are collaborating with them to bring their training here in Delta state and we hoping to train about 500 girls per local government”

” Those who go through the training and after assessment called “A growth track test” and those who succeeded will be empowered with the MORE GRANT SCHEME”., she added
