The entire members of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN Delta State chapter, rising from her Extraordinary General Meeting today reviewed the ongoing Economic Summit and came out with the following resolutions: That,
1) Community Newspaper Publishers in Delta State, having been shut out of the event, looks at the ongoing Economic Summit with nostalgia over the deliberate act of denying the Grassroots the opportunity to know what happened at the summit through our reports in our various publications.
2) We are surprised that our Patron H.E Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is hosting event of this magnitude without carrying the community newspaper publishers in the state along.
3) We have seen advertorials in both state and national newspapers and broadcast media yet no member of ACNPN was given such advertorials as a way of recognizing our importance.
4) This action coming from the headship of the organizing committee of the Economic Summit showed clearly the lack of interest in importance of Grassroots Newspaper Publishers in Delta State.
5) We are disappointed with the treatment meted on Grassroots Newspaper Publishers for sidelining the members who remains the critical stakeholders in disseminating all the activities of the summit to the Grassroots
6) We are therefore wondering why we are edged out in the scheme of things in our state that we supposed to partner with our Patron.
