Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring/Audit, Engr Dr. Goodnews Agbi, has called on the contractor handling the rehabilitation and resurfacing of the CAC road, off Orhuwhorun road in Udu local government area to put proper kerbs on the road shoulders or suffer the fate of being paid based on work carried out on site.
Agbi who made the call while inspecting the project alongside other projects in the local government expressed displeasure over the insitu produced kerbs and drains which are already failing. Insisting that the whole be removed and replaced with precast ones. corrections be made. The wall of the drains are also failing and should be brought down and recast with proper shutters.
“We’ve asked them to replace the kerbes. They produced insitu kerbes without using proper shutters and framework. We have asked them to remove them and use precast kerbs. We don’t want any shoddy jobs in the state. Apart from that, they are doing the binder course now, which is ok.”
Agbi who visited other sites being; the rehabilitation/remedial works of old Umutu-Obiaruku-Abraka-Eku road, construction of Arhawarien Avenue in DSC Udu LGA, and the Udu Habour market, commended contractors for their speed and quality of materials used at the Udu harbor market, as he encouraged them to work with the expected date of completion.
“This is Udu Habour market. As you all can see, work is ongoing, and it is being executed according to specification. The project must have quality and the quantity that is in the bill of quantities must be delivered as stated. I want to thank the engineer for good supervision.”
The Special Adviser also inspected the attached building to the Faculty of management science, University of Science and Technology Ozoro and the construction of Otekpo in Ellu town in Isoko North LGA where he gave thumbs up to the contractors for their efforts in delivering quality jobs for the people of the state to enjoy the dividend of democracy.
“We keep praying for the Governor because he’s doing so much for the state. That is why he is the best governor in the country. We pray that God should give him to continue like this in the two years, and the next four years, we’ll see more. We want everyone to support the Governor in prayers, and every community where project is ongoing, the community members should own the project and protect it as government projects are for their benefits.”
“I am happy with what I have seen here, and I expect you to continue in this line so we don’t see any substandard jobs because the MORE Agenda is all about quality of work and quantity of jobs given. The MORE Agenda is for perfection even though humans are not perfect, we work towards perfection.”
