The Project Monitoring and Audit team seem not to be leaving any stone unturned as they embarked on carrying out their assignments of ensuring jobs are done according to specifications.
The team led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring and Audit, Engr Dr Goodnews Agbi, started off at Ameachi Agusi Street and adjoining streets at Koka in oshimili south LGA of the state where work was ongoing until the invert level of one the drains was discovered not to be done properly.
The engineer was told how to go about the corrections; “We started from Asaba in koka to check if the corrections and directives of the governor has been effected. Recall the other day the governor came here, he commented on the spacing of the reinforcements and also the thickness. We came back today, and observed that they have gone very far and they are doing very well and according to specification.”
Agbi then moved to Auditing the Mudi beach road recently completed to compare what was on site with what is in the BEME. He said, “At Abraka the Mudi Beach road, we visited last week for monitoring, but today we went there for auditing. We went there to ensure that what is in the BEME, i.e the 500m, is what is on ground.”
Moving to other sites, the SPAD led his team to inspect the construction of Samagidi Ediagbo Village Road in Kokori, Ethiope East LGA, rehabilitation of old Warri road from Amukpe junction to Ikwewu community by expressway with a spur to Hon. Ayemidejor close in Amukpe Sapele LGA and the completed reconstruction and rehabilitation of Addock Road from chechester to link yoruba Road Sapele LGA.
Impressed with the level of work achieved at the sites, Agbi had this to say; “After Abraka we went to Samagidi. The contractor did a very good job there though they have not finished. The drainage is ok, they have done very good stone base. Then you can see what is happening in Sapele here; we started with old Sapele/Warri road, and the drains are ok. The thickness are also ok and the invert which is very important is ok too. That’s why you see that in some places, the depth is 750mm, which is the recommended, but as you’re going down towards Warri, the depth is increasing, getting to 1.5m. and of course, we checked the steel diameter. The diameter of the steel was 10mm which is the minimum we expected and the spacing of the steel was also ok. They are doing very well.”
He also commended the Governor for his dedication in keeping both appointees and contractors on their toes in giving Deltans the best through the MORE Agenda noting that, “Overall, we must all give kudos to the Governor who is pushing everybody to get the best for Delta. We must try and follow-up his footsteps in trying to give Deltans the best of all constructions.”
The Guru Engr further commended the Ministry’s Engineer, saying, “This is the essence of the MORE Agenda. We must continue to give the best we can to the people. I encourage all you engineers, especially ministry engineers. I’m proud of what you did in all the projects inspected today.”
