A Delta-based NGO, Zipporah Foundation, has distributed over 16,000 items to students, farmers, and artisans in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.
The items include customized stationery for students, farm implements for farmers, and skill acquisition tools for artisans.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Zipporah Foundation, Princess Zipporah Egenege, said the foundation’s goal is to impact lives in her community, especially when she was 12, and said, “Every child is your child,” while appealing to students to never give up and trust in God.
She explained that the Zipporah Foundation stands out today with the help of her parents, and the foundation has impacted the lives of people for five years from where she goes to school in the North.
She said, “I see the impact the foundation has made in the lives of students in the north, and they are improving in their mindset.”
“And I am pleased seeing the potential in every child, and I want to appeal to students never to give up and have trust in God.”
The Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, Barr. Possible Ajede, praised the foundation’s efforts, saying the empowerment aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s “More Agenda,” and noted that the project will support education and boost the local economy.
According to him, “You all know that education is a critical aspect of our ‘Do More Agenda,’ and this is to support our people to continue to pursue the academic journey.”
He said, “When the foundation wrote to me about this project, I told my team that we need to support them because we discovered that the Zipporah Foundation is a credible foundation, and we have to collaborate with them to better the lives of our people“.
He added the project is critical to our agriculture, and these farm implements will help them to increase their farm produce, Ajede stated.
He, however, thanked the foundation for the initiative and pledged that the council would continue to support them, and he called on sons and daughters of Ukwani in diaspora to leverage the example that the Zipporah Foundation laid.
He also urged the beneficiaries to protect what has been given and begged parents to pray for the foundation so they can do more.
Also speaking at the event, the Honorable Commissioner for Primary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, who was represented by Chief Inspector of Education, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Mrs. Clara Agbaruwa, commended the Zipporah Foundation for the kind gesture, adding that the state government cherishes them and urging other NGOs to emulate the Zipporah Foundation
Speaking on behalf of the community king (Okpala Uku), Chief Richard Osekene applauded the foundation for bringing the empowerment to his people, adding that they are delighted and encourage others to emulate what the foundation does.
Onyebuchi Goodness and Okonye Daniel who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended the foundation for the kind gesture and promised that they would put the items to good use to improve their lives and contribute to the growth of their community.
