Ibeku League of Professionals (IBLP), has hailed Hon Emeka Atuma’s the unwavering commitment to socio-economic development of Abia State and Nigeria.
The commendation by the think-tank group was contained in a statement signed by the President, Engr. Eand the Secretary-General, Amb Nancy Nzomuche.
The statement was issued at the end of the enlarged meeting of Ibeku League of Professionals, held on Sunday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
The group whose membership is drawn from the academia, media, different political parties, noted that Atuma’s active roles towards deepening the present democracy in the country cannot be overstated, adding that the giant strides achieved by Atuma as then member of the house of representatives representing Ikwuano/umuahia federal constituency distinguished him as one of the finest democrats in the annals of history of Nigeria’s legislative governance.
Recalling numerous outstanding legislative strides recorded by the ex-federal lawmaker, the professional body noted that Hon Emeka Atuma initiated several development-oriented bills turned laws that effectively strengthened statutory institutions of democratic governance in Nigeria.
The group also noted that while then in the green chamber of the national assembly, Hon Emeka Atuma attracted the building of several critical infrastructural projects, facilitated employment of indigenes from ikwuano /umuahia constituency in federal and state ministries,departments, and agencies.v
“As a representative of the people while then at the green chamber, Hon Emeka Atuma displayed effective and responsive representations by providing opportunities to less- privileged people from access and acquire knowledge ,skill trainings in artisanship, information communication technology, entrepreneurship, bakery, soap making, shoe-making, and numerous
Towards the efforts to enhance community development, Hon Atuma carried out several palliative works on major roads across rural communities in ikwuabo/umuahia federal constituency and equally facilitated building of several federal government- sponsored projects, while serving as then member of the federal house of representatives. He equally provided and facilitated installation of electricity lights in many rural and urban areas in the federal constituency.
“Atuma facilitated and provided water across the three local government areas that constituted the federal constituency. He also provided indigent constituents access to healthcare services under his humanitarian support programs.,”the group stated.
On the foregoing, Ibeku League of the Professionals welcomed the recent decision of the ex-federal legislator to vie Abia central senatorial district seat election in 2027 on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group posited that Atuma when elected as a senator of the federal Republic of Nigeria, will deliver on the mandate of the people of Abia central zone, having demonstrated the needed capacity, and recorded visible giant strides in human, economic and infrastructural development while then at the lower chamber of the national assembly.
Ibeku League of Professionals declared their total support and sincere commitment to Atuma’s senatorial bid and pledged to work collectively towards ensuring the victory of the former lawmaker into the nigerian senate come next year.
The group attributed the rationale behind their support for Atuma on basis of fairness and equity, emphasizing that Ibeku clan in umuahia north local area produced two-term senator and insisted that equity demands it’s turn of ikwuano extraction to produce a senator for Abia central zone.
Ibeku League of Professionals urged the people of Ibeku ukwu ogurube to queue behind Hon Emeka Atuma and urged eligible people from Abia central senatorial district who have not yet register for Permanent Voters card to visit designated INEC wards or center to get registered, reminding them that voters cards empowers to vote out incapable candidate and elect credible leaders of their choices.
“Without voters cards, you cannot participate in decision-making of the country. You won’t be able to effect a change in the nation’s leadership in situation of democratic misrule. But with your voters card which served as your power and weapon to vote, and to be voted for in any democratic election..
“They should not waste their votes for incompetence, and rather, they should cast their votes for candidates who possessed the need ability and capacity, candidates who are versatile, and candidates who can steer states’s affairs and sponsor good bills and make impactful and development -oriented laws that will further engender socio-economic and infrastructural projects, including strengthening democratic institutions of governance in our country.
“We as citizens must take our destines in our hands and make bold decisions in ensuring candidates who do not have a well-thought out plans or lack policy direction towards addressing most teething problems of the masses. are not allowed to near any elective public offices.
“Finally, I am using this very important medium to urge all sons and daughters from Abia central senatorial district to choose wisely during forthcoming polls in Abia and all other states in Nigeria come next year,”IBLP admonished.
