The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, has called for stronger cooperation and prompt intelligence sharing among security and intelligence agencies to effectively tackle emerging security challenges.
Oyeniyi made the call on Tuesday when participants of the Advanced Defence Intelligence Officers Course (ADIOC) 16/2026 of the Defence Intelligence College, Karu-Abuja, visited the Delta State Police Command in Asaba as part of their Nigeria Study Tour.
The 20 participants and senior staff of the college were led by its Commandant, Commodore U.N. Bugaje.
Speaking on the theme, “Strengthening National Resilience Through Integrated, Multi-Agency Coordination and Regional Security Cooperation,” the commissioner said the changing nature of security threats had made collaboration among security agencies essential.
He urged security and intelligence agencies to share intelligence promptly and coordinate their responses to security threats to improve operational effectiveness.
The commissioner also highlighted some of the achievements recorded by the Delta State Police Command, citing operational examples to demonstrate the impact of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency cooperation in combating crime across the state.
The participants subsequently engaged the commissioner and senior officers of the command on issues bordering on policing, intelligence gathering, crime prevention and security operations.
The questions were addressed by the commissioner and senior officers during the interactive session.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to continued cooperation with other security and intelligence agencies towards protecting lives and property in Delta State.
