An eminent Old Boy of Ogume Grammar School, Ogume Engr Chukwuma Ossaiga yesterday, presented note books to the students of Ogume Grammar School, Olie Primary School and Ezedogume Model Primary School, Ogume. He also presented a lawn mower to his Alma Mater, Ogume Grammar School, Ogume.
According to Mr Chris Okochi who represented the donor during the colourful ceremonies the idea was to encourage the students that resumed school yesterday and to give the parents a sense of belonging. He said he knows that most parents may be finding it difficult to buy books for their children because of lack of money. My coming in is to help reduce their plights.
“I know that times are hard and giving the exercise books to the students is my little way of letting them know that I share in their situation and to encourage them to read their books.”
“When I was here as a student, many students don’t usually resume in the first two weeks because they could not afford to buy the exercise books let alone text books. This informed one of the reasons why I decided to give back to the institutions that made me in memory of my parents late Chief Sunday and Anna Ossaiga.”
In a separate chat with the PTA chairman of both Ogume Grammar School and Ezedogume Model Primary School Chief Chukwunalu Ozah and the CDC chairman of Ogbe Ogume, Chief Nduka Obi who were on ground to witness the cemetery, they merely described him as an illustrious son with whom they are much pleased and showered encomiums on him. Speaking further, Chief Nduka Obi said Engr Chukwuma Ossaiga is one of the sons that contributes generously all the time for community development.
The teachers, students and pupils of the schools visited dedicated few minutes to pray for Engr Ossaiga.
It is worthy of mention here that he, in collaboration with another eminent Old Boy Mr Prince Ogeleka and few others singlehandedly equipped the Science laboratory and in the last three years he took it upon himself to make customized note books for the students on resumption for the new academic session.
Engr Chukwuma Ossaiga, four years ago singlehandedly built state of the art library and furnished it with books. Since then the students performances at external examinations have been positively skewed.
