Vigilante allegedly kills Okada rider with cutlass and steals motorcycle to raise money for his wedding in Niger state

A vigilante, Usman Yahaya Mohammed, allegedly killed an Okada rider and stole his motorcycle with the intent to sell it and raise money for his wedding in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

A resident, Idris Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust said the suspect killed the commercial motorcyclist last Friday, September 29, 2023 at bypass, Eppa road.

“The suspect slaughtered the bike man on Friday but luck ran out on him when his phone fell at the scene. The corpse was found on Monday morning. The suspect’s wedding is in one month’s time. His name is Usman Yahaya,” he narrated.

It was further learnt that the suspect had applied to join the army before the alleged act.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident said the suspect had been arrested and confessed to the crime.

The PPRO added that a Bajaj motorcycle suspected to have been robbed from the deceased was recovered from an uncompleted building.
