The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ukwuani Chapter, visited the Council yesterday to congratulate the Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government, Hon (Barr) C.S Possible Ajede, on his recent award of recognition by Delta State NULGE as the “Outstanding Workers’ Friendly Local Government Executive Chairman of the Year 2024.”

During the congratulatory visit, the NUT Chairman, Comr. Obi Jackson, congratulated the Executive Chairman for the award, which he described as well-deserved. He added that indeed, Barr Ajede has proven himself as deserving of the award through his open-door, no-protocol policy, which has provided access to both workers and the generality of Ukwuani people.

The NUT working committee also applauded the Ukwuani Council Boss for his #DoMoreAgenda administration’s Education Development initiative, through which he has supported both primary and secondary schools pupils/students across the LGA with educational materials – provision of textbooks for stocking of libraries, distribution of notebooks, bags, school uniforms, and free NECO/WAEC registration for indigent students, among others.

The Ukwuani Chapter of the NUT further expressed their appreciation for the grand reception accorded to members of the NUT, as well as for the provision of free medical care for the teachers during the recent screening and physical verification of workers in the local government by the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Asaba.

Meanwhile, Comrade Obi has pledged the continued loyalty and support of the NUT to the Ajede-led administration.

In his brief remarks, the Education Friendly Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government, Hon (Barr) C.S Possible Ajede reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering on all of the #DoMoreAgenda strategic developmental framework, while adding that he will continue to give priority attention to education.

Barr Ajede assured the members of the NUT that his administration will continue to strengthen the education sector in the LGA, even as he gave the assurance that the Union’s appeals will be considered and addressed in due course.
