The Senate has commenced legislative action on a bill seeking to establish the Federal College of Agriculture, Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, as the proposed law successfully passed its first reading on Thursday, March 27.
The bill, sponsored by Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, aims to bolster Nigeria’s agricultural sector by providing a hub for research, training, and innovation in modern farming techniques.
Speaking on the bill, Senator Nwoko described the initiative as a critical step towards addressing food security, youth unemployment, and economic growth. According to him, the institution will play a pivotal role in equipping young Nigerians with the skills needed to drive the country’s agricultural revolution.
