Inspection tour with federal officials highlights strong community support and development gains
The Umuseti community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area has expressed appreciation to Mr John IK Ozegbe for facilitating the siting of eight solar-powered water facilities across key wards in the area, marking a significant step towards improving access to clean and sustainable water supply.
The projects, distributed across Ward 3 and Ward 4, will serve Olieogo Umuseti, Ukpabi, Utagba Uno, Ologwu Isumpe and Akakpani Umuseti. Community leaders, youth representatives and members of Community Development Committees welcomed the development during an inspection visit involving Mr Ozegbe, the project contractor, and representatives from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja.
During the visit, the team toured the identified locations to confirm suitability and readiness for installation. Residents at the various sites received the delegation with enthusiasm, describing the intervention as timely and impactful for households, schools and local economic activities.
CDC chairpersons and youth representatives across the beneficiary communities expressed satisfaction with the development, noting that improved access to potable water would reduce daily hardship and strengthen public health outcomes.
Mr Ozegbe, who has served as Chief Legislative Officer in previous political engagements, is widely acknowledged within the local political landscape for his role in facilitating development projects in Ndokwa West over the years. Community stakeholders referenced his contributions dating back to the tenure of former leadership in the area, noting that several visible projects in Utagba Uno and surrounding communities continue to reflect earlier interventions he supported.
He is also recognised for his familiarity with legislative processes, appropriation structures and stakeholder engagement within Delta State’s political environment. Supporters say these strengths position him as an active participant in ongoing discussions around development and representation in Ndokwa West.
While his name has been associated with interest in the 2027 Delta State House of Assembly race for Ndokwa West Constituency, community leaders emphasise that the current interventions are not politically driven. According to local stakeholders, the projects reflect a consistent commitment to community development rather than electoral ambition.
They further noted that if allowed to serve in elected office, his experience in project facilitation and understanding of legislative processes could contribute to more effective representation and accelerated development outcomes for the constituency.
The Coordinator of Umu Ezeti Global Connect Initiative. Ambassador Chuks Ododo also commended Mr Ozegbe for his role in attracting the water projects, describing the intervention as a meaningful contribution to improving living conditions across the communities. Ambassador Chuks Ododo encouraged him to sustain efforts in advocating for additional development projects that will benefit Utagba Uno and Ndokwa West at large.
The solar-powered water facilities are expected to enhance access to clean water, reduce reliance on unsafe sources, and support long-term community development across the beneficiary locations.
